Myofascial Release is a technique that specifically addresses restrictions in the fascia. Fascia runs throughout the body, enveloping muscles, ligaments, tendons and organs. Myofasial Release can be an effective modality for addressing issues relating to post-operative scar tissue formation, limited range-of-motion, and nerve impingements.
This modality is practiced with clothes on, and is extremely light in pressure. By assessing the rhythm and flow of the cerebrospinal fluid, we can find where restrictions are held within the body and with gentle guidance, help the body to release the tension patterns. Craniosacral Therapy has been shown to help alleviate issues of the nervous system, headaches, TMJ, and many of the physical symptoms of somatic issues such as PTSD, anxiety and depression.
Massage tailored to senior clients takes into consideration the varied range of physical, psychological, and emotional health challenges that come with age. While many seniors enjoy a vibrant and active lifestyle, and may need only a few adjustments to the session, others may experience a more fragile state, and will need the session modified entirely. A mindful and gentle approach is given to encourage better ease of movement, pain reduction, and an overall sense of well-being.
Prenatal massage is safe and recommended beginning at week 14 of pregnancy. It is helpful for relieving sciatica, pelvic pain, muscle spasms, headaches, lymphedema, anxiety and more. Regular bodywork throughout pregnancy has been shown to promote healthy birth outcomes, and relaxed bonding. Note that there are a couple of limitations: I will not be using any deep, trigger point techniques in areas of the upper shoulders, sacrum or feet (unless we are trying to achieve labor induction).

Deep tissue massage is helpful for releasing compesatory movement patterns and imbalances to reduce pain.
Sports Massage is an excellent way to prepare for a big sports event, for post-event recovery, and to help maintain overall range of motion and flexibility. Depending on the needs of the athlete, it can incorporate passive and active stretching, deep pressure, kneading, and compression.
Perhaps the most well-known massage modality. This classic massage includes a combination of long strokes, effleurage, and kneading, to release tension in the superficial layers of muscle and soft tissue. Swedish massage is an excellent modality to promote relaxation, circulation, and a greater sense of well-being.
